Klaviyo welcome flow: what belongs in it.

In many stores the welcome flow is one of the flows that bring in the most revenue. It reaches people who have only just shown interest. Yet often the first version from years ago is still running.

Email 1: right away

Arrives within a minute of signing up. It delivers what the form promised, for example the discount code, and says in two sentences what your brand stands for.

Email 2: after one day

Shows the products new customers most often buy first. Bestsellers sell to strangers more easily than new arrivals.

Email 3: after three days

The story behind the brand or what customers say. This is where trust is built.

Email 4: after five to seven days

A reminder about the code if it hasn’t been used. Anyone who has bought in the meantime doesn’t get this email.

Three settings that are often missing

  • Exit after purchase: whoever buys leaves the flow and moves into the post-purchase flow.
  • Separate paths for customers and non-customers: someone who has already bought doesn’t need a welcome discount.
  • Deliverability: SPF, DKIM and DMARC for your domain. Otherwise the best email lands in spam.

Don’t want to build the flow yourself? Szymon sets it up for you.
